Case study · Ibadati

A prayer app people can rely on, five times a day.

Ibadati is a free prayer companion for Muslims on iPhone and Android: prayer times, adhan alerts, Qibla, the Quran, duas and hadith. No ads, no account, no tracking.

The challenge

Many prayer apps are free because they're full of ads and trackers, and many miss the most important moment of all: an adhan that sounds late, or not at all, because the phone put the app to sleep. Ibadati set out to fix both.

  • Alerts must be on time, on every phone, including Android phones that aggressively stop background apps.
  • Religious content must be accurate, with sources shown and licences respected.
  • Privacy is non-negotiable: where you pray and how often is nobody's business.

What we built

  • Exact-minute adhan alerts with a built-in check that finds phone settings likely to block them, and explains how to fix each one.
  • Prayer times calculated on the phone, with the right method for each region, Hanafi or Standard Asr, and per-prayer adjustments.
  • An offline Qibla compass, the Quran with recitation and translation, duas with references, and more than 2,000 hadiths with grades, sources and explanations.
  • Prayer Focus, an optional mode that quiets distracting apps around prayer time using Apple's Screen Time framework.
  • A daily hadith and verse, plus prayer tracking, Qada, an Islamic calendar and a Hajj and Umrah guide.

Private by design

Ibadati has no account, no analytics and no advertising SDKs. Location, prayer history, notes and settings stay on the device. Both store privacy labels read "Data Not Collected", and that is how the app is built, not just how it is described.

How we shipped it

Every change runs through automated tests and builds. Release builds for Google Play and TestFlight are produced by a CI pipeline, store screenshots are generated from the app itself, and every content source is tracked with its licence.
